Description
The original Dry Shampoo! The second ingredient to gorgeous eighteenth century hair (after Pomatum/Pomade). Both recipes are historically accurate and derived from primary source material.
Common Powder: lightly scented with Orris Root, thought to give a light violet scent. Soft white color
Mareschal powder: light brown in color. Scents of clove, cinnamon, and mace, basically like holiday baking.
Both powders work delightfully with the pomades. Color is personal preference.
The science behind the powders. Back in the day wheat starch would have been the main ingredient but in the modern world, corn starch is the closest thing we have. It still binds like a dream with the protein based pomades and together you can build and sculpt to your heart’s content.
If you choose to use the pomade and powder as a substitute for shampoo and conditioner, we recommend you invest in a fine tooth comb. Combing out your hair from scalp to end regularly to comb out build up is key to this working.
