Chai tea goes back over 5,000 years! The word ‘chai’ comes from the Hindi word for ‘tea’. This black tea blend has been used for a long long time but the chai tea craze caught on in the 1700’s and then again in resent years. It is said to boost heart health and reduce blood sugar. We here think it’s just plain yummy and drink it pretty regularly and we are also pretty healthy!Coincidence??
We recommend two teaspoons of chai per cup or so of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for five minutes or so. Strain, add hot milk of choice and sweeten if you like.
