These Disney Inspired Makeup Tutorials will let you wear your inner princess (or villain) every day!
Disneybound…but for your face
Have you ever heard of Disneybound? It’s a fabulous way to embody your favorite Disney character in your every day life. I myself channel Wonder Woman, various pirates, and other amazing boot wearing characters on the regular. It’s not dress up and it’s not costume. Think of it this way, when you have to go to a meeting, is there a special jacket you wear that makes you feel confident? or shoes that make you feel dainty and pretty? It’s the same idea but when you wear the Disney character’s colors or style, you embody their characteristics. You carry yourself a little differently and it’s just plain fun.
A while back I was able to meet and hang with Leslie Kay of Disneybound. She’s a pretty cool girl and is rather magical herself. I’m sure Walt would like her. This was during my time working in Hollywood as a makeup artist.
We’re big fans of Disney in This Family so it was a pretty natural thing to start doing Disney character inspired makeup. I used my oldest on more then one occasion to create various looks and needless to say she was the hit of all the Halloween costume parties she went to. I thought being October and close to Halloween, these would be fun to share with you all.
“Disneyland would be a world of Americans, past and present, seen through the eyes of my imagination–a place of warmth and nostalgia, of illusion and color and delight.” Walt Disney
Your Inner Princess
Princess makeup is great for work and every day. One can never go wrong with these looks because they are flattering to all face size, shapes, and skin tone. Disney princess looks are always clean, simple, and flattering. They make eyes look open and awake and faces look fresh and youthful.
AND WHO DOESN’T WANT THAT?
Paired with a good cup of coffee, these make up looks will make moms sing in the morning… OK, maybe not but they will make a mom (or anyone) feel pretty. 🙂
Unleash your Inner Villain
Now let’s get real. It’s fun to be the villain! And sometimes, a venti coffee isn’t enough and you have to call on your inner villain to get through the day. I get it. Here’s some step by steps to get your evil on.
By the way, people always ask me who I think is the most evil of all the Disney villains. Duh…Maleficent! If you just stick to the cartoon original versions, it has to be her! She put the whole town under a spell and tried to kill the princess because she didn’t get invited to a party! I’ve been irritated when I’ve been dissed before but Maleficent wins for irrational retribution! Is it weird in that in some way, she’s kind my hero? I mean, she doesn’t take garbage from ANYone!
Costume Makeup
Now this last one isn’t for every day… it’s for sure for a costume party… but I have to say, I was rather impressed with myself for this one. This is my daughter, Madison Bella and I turned her into the Wicked Witch of the West. She was a teenager so she already had the attitude to go with the look…wait, was that my outside voice?
My bad. LOVE YOU HONEY!!!! (Glad you aren’t a teenager any more-says under my breath)
ANYhow, it was a relatively simple makeup and it was AWESOME! If it appears like there is a lot of progress in steps two through four look closely. I added a second coat, eyeliner, and contour powder respectively.

It’s awesome, right? Well have fun with these Disney Inspired Makeup Tutorials! I’d love to see photos if you recreate the looks! Happy Halloween!!! or you know… any given Tuesday! 😉
