Riley’s at Rancho Los Rios
Ready to rustle up an authentic chuckwagon dinner? About two hours south of Los Angeles lies the burg of Oak Glen. Situated on a mountain with one road going up and down, we wound back and forth until we landed at the Los Rios Rancho, home of the Riley family.
Every year the Riley family hosts a Chuckwagon dinner under the stars. We LOVE it because it’s more then dinner. It’s an experience and a glimpse into a time period and culture that is unique to our country, the cowboys of the 1800’s.
I could write novels but since pictures are worth a thousand words, I’ll let these photos do the talking…
10 Things to experience at the Chuckwagon Dinner
History is fun!!! And its best when it’s experienced together (and when there is coffee) which in this case, there is!!! Can’t wait for the next one! Wait, did I just hear the dinner bell?

My parents took me to a chuckwagon dinner in Colorado Springs when I was younger. I absolutely loved it! Now that I live here, we went to the Flying W Wranglers a few times, but then it burnt down with the Waldo Canyon fire. It was so sad. I’m hoping they open again because it is an awesome experience.
jen says
OH I hope so too!!!

What a fun activity and gets everyone outside and together. How was the food? I love these type of events.
jen says
I live for these type of events! LOL Food was pretty good. It isn’t 4 star steak but there is something uniquely awesome about food cooked over the campfire. You just can’t get that flavor any other way.
